Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Foundation for India Studies (FIS) and Rice University

The Consulate General of India in Houston was pleased to participate in the special event on June 1, 2026 marking the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Foundation for India Studies (FIS) and Rice University—a significant step toward preserving and documenting the rich history of the Indian American community in Houston and beyond.

Consul General D.C. Manjunath conveyed the appreciation for this meaningful initiative and highlighted the importance of safeguarding community narratives and ensuring that the contributions, lived experiences, and cultural heritage of Indian Americans are archived for future generations. He noted that such collaborations strengthen the cultural fabric of the region and deepen academic engagement with India related studies.
