Famous singer, Geeta singing, prophecy, campaigner, founder of ‘Bhagavad Geeta Foundation’ Dr.L V. Gangadhara Shastri was felicitated with Lifetime Achievement Award. “All 700 verses of the Indian spiritual essence Bhagavad Gita are sung in self music and recorded with the highest technical values that give you the feeling of Darshan while listening to it, Dr. II AP J Abdul Kalam, Visvesha Tirtha Swamy without feeling that his responsibility has been fulfilled – Bhagavadgita for the construction of a better society without selfishness Sri Kambham Tirumala Reddy, the founder of Tirumala Family Foundation, Value Financial Services, announced that he is the first Indian singer to turn campaigning into his life. In Dallas, USA, on August 9, 2025, at a program jointly organized by the Value Financial Services and the Tirumala Family Foundation, renowned singer, Bhagavadgita preacher and propagator as well as founder chairman of the Bhagavadgita Foundation, Dr. L. V. Gangadhara Sastry, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Announcing the award, the founder of Tirumala Family Foundation and Value Financial Services, Sri. Kumbum Tirumala Reddy, stated: “Dr. Sastry is the first Indian singer who rendered all 700 verses of the Bhagavad Gita in Telugu, complete with meaning, in his own musical composition, recorded with the highest technical standards to create the feeling of a divine vision when heard. The album was released by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and Vishwesha Tirtha Swami. Without stopping there, he has dedicated the last two decades of his life to selfless promotion of the Bhagavadgita for building a virtuous society. This award recognizes those immense spiritual services.”
It is remarkable that Sri. Thirumala Reddy Kumbum efficiently organized the Bhagavadgita musical discourse on a large scale, like a grand “event,” in the presence of thousands of Bhagavadgita followers!
During his address, Dr. Sastry questioned: “The Gita was taught in an age before religions were born — who can call it a religious scripture? Krishna, the Universal Teacher, taught the Gita for the welfare of all humanity — who can limit Him to being the God of only Hindus?” He mentioned that even Westerners have praised the Gita — citing how Oppenheimer recalled the verse “Divi Sūrya Sahasrasya” during the first atomic bomb test, how UNESCO recently recognized the Gita, and how Indian Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker and American astronaut Sunita Williams have both said it deeply inspired them. Calling it the “Song of Victory”, Sastry explained that Arjuna heard Krishna’s teaching, acted upon it, and attained success. He connected select key verses to everyday life, delivering a musical discourse. When he sang and explained the “Vishwaroopa Darshana Yoga” episode, the audience experienced a divine atmosphere and stood in emotional applause.
Before the main event, he blessed and congratulated children who had recited the Bhakti Yoga chapter of the Gita, reminding everyone that the ultimate aim of the Gita is not mere recitation, but living its teachings in daily life. The program featured pleasant commentary by Smt. Maitreyi and Smt. Spuritha.
Dr. Sastry expressed gratitude to Mrs. Sandhya Reddy Gavva, who first introduced him to the Telugu community in the USA, and thanked her for attending. Special guests included Smt. Sandhya Reddy, Sri. Thotakura Prasad, Sri. Narendra Yarabarla from Houston, and Sri. Venkat Jasti from Albany.
