In response to the devastating floods that struck Central Texas on Friday Jul 4, 2025, volunteers from Sewa International along with those from partner orgs like HSS, Ekal Vidyalaya, AKM(Agasthiyar Kalai Mandram) joined the effort to provide much-needed support to affected communities.
On the weekend of July 19th and 20th, 50+ volunteers(21 from DFW area) from the Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, and Austin chapters came together for a coordinated, continuing flood relief effort by Sewa International in the affected regions of Kerr county.
On Saturday, volunteers assisted with the cleanup of a severely damaged local business in Center Point, TX. The floodwaters had left the premises in disarray, but through collective effort, the team was able to help sort, restore and reorganize the business’s inventory. The owner expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unexpected yet much-needed support.
The relief efforts continued on Sunday in Ingram, TX, where volunteers supported the local fire department by sorting and organizing their food pantry—an essential hub supporting ongoing relief operations across the region. Later that day, volunteers also helped clean and restore the grounds of a girls’ camp run by the Heart Of The Hills Foundation in Hunt TX. This site had been especially hard-hit, with floodwaters rising over 20 feet very rapidly and resulting in significant structural damage and heart-breaking loss of life.
“This was more than just a cleanup effort—it was an expression of solidarity, compassion, and shared humanity,” said one of the volunteers. “Being present in the aftermath, hearing stories of resilience and loss, and seeing the impact of our efforts reminded us all why service matters.” #SEWA #CentralTexas#Floods
