Chandrapuram Ponnusamy C. P. Radhakrishnan was elected as the 15th Vice President of India on 9th September 2025, succeeding Jagdeep Dhankhar who had resigned earlier that year citing health concerns. Representing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Radhakrishnan secured a robust victory with 452 first-preference votes—approximately 60.10% of the total—defeating the INDIA bloc’s candidate, former Supreme Court judge B. Sudershan Reddy, who obtained 300 votes (39.90%). He is Known for his affiliations with the RSS and a calm, non-confrontational demeanor, Radhakrishnan’s election reflects the continued strength of the NDA within India’s constitutional framework.
